Salcombe B / Moor Sand – Bronze Age Artefacts

This hoard is a unique collection of 389 gold, copper alloy and tin ornaments, weapons and ingots from the Bronze Age which were recovered from the seabed off the coast of Salcombe, Devon by SWMAG.
The hoard includes two beautiful and intricate gold wire-twisted bracelets which are the first of their kind to be represented in an English collection. The hoard also sheds new light on our understanding of the trade links of civilisations during the Bronze Age. The tin ingots in the hoard show the first direct evidence of tin trade during the era.

The artefacts from the Salcombe B / Moor Sand Bronze Age sites can be explored online at the ‘British Museum Collection‘.
High definition images can be enlarged and examined in detail which will enable you to view the incredible range and diversity of the items raised by the South West Maritime Archaeological Group (SWMAG).
