A European blockbusting epic ‘Bronze Age: Fires of Change’, a head spinning wealth of objects in one place & a new light on prehistoric Europe – everyone to @rijksmuseumvanoudheden Leiden! (runs until 16.03.25)
Bronze Age: Fires of Change is an exhibition at the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden in Leiden that explores the Bronze Age (2000–800 BC). The exhibition features over 400 archaeological finds from the Netherlands and other countries, including:
- Metalwork: The famous “golden hat of Schifferstadt” from Germany, the “Mold Gold Cape” from Great Britain, and six giant ceremonial bronze swords
- Everyday objects: A wooden ladle, a ladder, amber beads, and toys made of clay
- Scientific discoveries: Researchers will be on hand to discuss the latest scientific discoveries about the Bronze Age
The exhibition also explores how the Bronze Age world was connected to the world of ancestors and gods, and how the solar cycle played a central role.
The Bronze Age began when bronze, a new metal, was introduced, which led to major changes in European societies. Some see the Bronze Age as the dawn of modern Europe.
